Sometimes I'm reminded of why me and Chase started our lovely network. We were having one of those 4am chats and started talking about anonymity and toxicity on the Internet. This was almost two decades ago, and we were scared those elements would get the whole thing shut down. That's when we started thinking about our favorite show, Stellar Expeditions.

 

In one episode, the crew of the Kepler crash on a planet after a battle with the Yl'ru in the Infraction Quadrant. Breaking the Core Principle, they go into town looking for parts. Quantum, the ship's only android, is arrested and charged with murder. They're able to escape, but barely.

After some snarky comment by the ship's Tactical Officer, Quantum says, "Trees of fear sprout from seeds of ignorance."

That's why we made BlurtOut. We WANT your voice heard. But we also want to make sure we focus on the second part as well and "learn about this world." That's why starting next month we're going to relaunch ChatTalk. The first episode will be about being respectful of others who have religions, cultures, and hobbies that you aren't familiar with.
